The local police department has scared me into becoming friends only. So post if you wish to be added.

When I grow up, I think I will marry sudoku. Because it rocks.

Sadness. If I had planned farther ahead, I could have gone to Pickle's school tommorow to hang out in the Japanese classes. But alas, my father and I did not realize that until today.

Life has been enjoyable. We had a horrid marching band performance yesterday. In good news, today at church youth group, we watched Saved!. It was a very amusing movie. And then I got to clean my room. Lots of fun.

I've been hating English class, but it's been getting better. I like when we have class led discussions, since they really make me think. With a passage analysis, you don't have anyone to bounce ideas off of, but I know that's what the teacer wants.

There's a kid I think is gay in my bio class, but I'm not sure, I don't want to ask "Are you gay?" because that strikes me as rather rude. But it's bugging me.

We had our first marching band competition on Saturday. We didn't do as well as Mr. C wanted. Our guard sucked hard. It was really fun though. It's so much nicer performing in front of people who are cheering you on that people who leave to get hot dogs while you play.

So we found Sean. He's still at school, which looks to be the safest place in Houston. I'm very relieved that we are positive where he is and where he will be. I hope everything goes well.

I think I qualify as a nervous wreck now. Rumor has it Sean's coming home, but he didn't actually tell us, we got information from family friends who heard it from other family friends, whose daughter was most likely the finder outer. My grandparents have called asking. His cell isn't on, but his away message is. I'm feeling lost and confused. It reminds me of the night my grandfather died. My father and aunt had gone to check on him, and they were gone way too long, and people kept calling, and nobody told me anything until my mom got home a few hours later. I'm due for a breakdown.

My older brother is getting hit by Hurricane Rita, and it scares me. A lot. I don't get why he just doesn't leave. We have friends in other parts of Texas, he could go see them. I'm not going to be able to sleep tommorow.

So my DVD burner is screwy. I'll add files to be burned, and then it freezes. Sometimes, I actually get a DVD burnt. It's a little more than relatively irritating, because I know I have tons of crap on the computer, and that makes my parents unhappy. On the bright side, I got all of the Emma anime off. It runs on my portable DVD player, but I need to figure out how to toggle the video size so that it actually fits on my DVD player's screen.

I'm also hopelessly addicted to Honey and Clover again. It's really a shame that I can't read the manga because it's lacking in furigana.

I was skimming the Shueisha site today, and I noticed they've started publishing widebans of Gokinjo! They're full of color pages and they have large pages. They look beautiful, and they are 1260 yen.

So Mr. C, band director, has decided to be stupid. I am in the lowest level band due to my freshman status. There are three levels. Fellow mellophone in Marching Band is in second level band. She tells me that Mr. C was complaining about how second level band has perfect instrumentation except for the fact that it needs another French horn. Mr. C complains in lowest level band that we have too many people playing the kind of part that I play. It's like..... WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU CLEARLY COULD HAVE CHANGED EARLIER?!

Ugh. I hate Earth Science. It's so boring. Because I'm taking Bio this year, the school forces me to learn Earth Science in my free time. So much boringness. I also ordered the solos I need for French horn, because I'm trying out for two different levels of select band, three if I'm lucky. Turns out there is a painfully easy way to massive extra credit in band, and that is to practice. You go from an A- to an A if you practice five hours a quarter. That is a cinch.

I got to go home early today because I had study hall last period, and that makes me happy. I hung around the house for 45 minutes then meandered back to school for marching band sectionals. It was very nice. I had to run the mile today, and it took me 13 minutes and 12 seconds. That's one of the worst scores I've had in awhile (I can normally do somewhere in the 11 minute range). Note: I'm a pretty sucky runner.

Sun, Sep. 11th, 2005, 09:10 pm

I am happy. Very very happy. I just practiced the French horn for 35 minutes, and I feel incredibly happy, because I know I could go on longer.

Friday = good. Marching band = kinda meh. I didn't do so hot. The other mellophone was not present, so I had nobody to guide to when I was hitting my sets. In the stands, the two trumpet section leaders spent a good deal of time singing showtunes and Disney music, which was rather amusing. A family friend happened to be at the game, so he said hi. My contact fell out forth quarter, but I managed to save it.

In English, we're doing etymologies first marking period, and it sucks. We're not going as indepth so that we can parse the entire word, so I'll be parsing, and I'll probably screw up because I parse the whole darn thing instead of just identifying the prefix and everything else. We're not even calling it parsing, there is no mention of assimilation, and it's not even called etymologies. Sure, I'll do great, but it won't be fun.

Today, I had my first Bio and World Studies class. The Bio teacher seems really serious, yet relatively amusing at the same time. It's a class made of five freshman and a ton of sophmores, so it was a bit intimidating. Luckily, one of my best friends in it too. World Studies will probably be lots of fun since half the room is a group of friends and me. At Marching Band, we are apparently not ready for our first game. Mr. C is ordering us to have mandatory sectionals during lunch tommorow. No fun.

Tue, Sep. 6th, 2005, 07:51 pm

My first day of high school went well. First period I had German. My German teacher was the only teacher to mention my older brother, which is a good thing. Second period was Concert Band, where Mr. C spent half the period talking about how the band room is in Marching Band Mode and how he is planning to keep the entire band program updated on our trials and tribulations. Third period was Geometry where the teacher spent the entire time telling us how we're the best math students in 9th grade because we're in honors and talking about how special we are. Lunch was uneventful, but we got a cool alcove to eat in. I ate with people some friends I couldn't eat with last year, which was nice. After lunch, I had English. The teacher seems tough. Then I had gym, where nothing happened. Last was study hall, which I hope to be able to leave early when I have it last. We have a rotating schedule, so I'll have different classes tommorow. And contacts sucks. They hurt my eyes.

School starts tommorow. I've been finishing my summer homework ALL DAY. It was hellish. But I got contacts. That I won't wear often. Except when I need to. I'm excited about starting high school, but I'd kinda like a little more summer. Not as much time for anime, manga, and video games anymore.

I went to my dear friend Gabby's sister's birthday party. She turned four. It was really funny watching all the little kids run around. I then got to housesit Gwenny with my little brother. She is so adorable.
